Three New Single-Family Homes Under Construction in Altoona

A new residential development project is helping create additional homeownership opportunities in the City of Altoona.

The Altoona Redevelopment Authority is constructing three new single-family homes between 14th Avenue and 20th Street as part of ongoing efforts to improve housing and strengthen City neighborhoods.

Once completed, the homes will be sold by the Redevelopment Authority and marketed toward middle-income families and first-time homebuyers.

The project is one example of the broader work being carried out by Altoona’s Community Development Department and its partner organizations. Community Development oversees planning and housing programs, administers federal funding and works to address blighted properties throughout the City.

During the previous year, 35 blighted properties were demolished, creating opportunities for properties to be rehabilitated or redeveloped for housing, neighborhood improvements and new business uses.

Projects like the three new homes demonstrate how redevelopment can turn underused properties into new opportunities for residents while contributing to stronger neighborhoods.
