Meeting Summary
Altoona City Council recognized members of the Altoona Fire Department with lifesaving, valor and unit awards and heard a presentation about the annual Fourth of July race. During public comment, residents raised concerns about safety, fighting and other activity at Iselina Park, while another speaker discussed Juneteenth and local history.
Council approved infrastructure and community-development items including improvements to the East Juniata Recreation Center, the 37th Street bridge and Logan Boulevard/Beale Avenue traffic signals, the City’s 2026 CDBG/HOME Annual Action Plan, several demolition contracts and a repository bid for 806 6th Avenue.
Two other repository-bid items were separated from the consent agenda and rejected unanimously, and Council later discussed the Iselina Park concerns and police response.
